The 2005 vintage is the second vintage we have been associated with this winery, the 1st being the beautiful 2004. As much as we liked the 2004 the 2005 may be a step up in quality as it shows the virtues of a great vintage in the hands of passionate and skilled wine makers. Again as we have stated the Merlot from Bein is not a wimpy, front loaded, fruit forward wine. Although this shows the elegance and suppleness of varietal, there is a firmness and structure to it that gives it its personality and character. This shows lots of red fruit, red currant and plum with some spice nuances as well as a creamy texture in its medium fuller bodied format. Juicy and quite vibrant this has a lovely core of fruit in the palate with a good, firm supporting tannin base from well managed oak. This should really come together in the next couple of years and show well for 3-4 more years after that.
