This offers up whiffs of toast with well integrated butter nut notes on the nose, with nice ripe peach and citrus brightness, even hinting at a touch of botrytis, with a tinge of honey coming up on the back aromatically. Although rich this is quite dry with flavors of peach and almond surfacing on the finish. Medium to medium-fuller bodied this has a seamless texture that fits the mold for those who want a richly textured Chardonnay that shows restraint, isn’t sweet and has a lovely , lingering aftertaste, without the butter and overtly creaminess that comes with many New World versions. English Master of Wine and acclaimed wine critic Jancis Robinson speaks of the Reserve Chardonnay made by Gravitas as having serious Burgundy leanings. This is drinking spot on right now and should be enjoyed over the next couple of years with total pleasure.
