Maybe not quite as dark as the 2006 vintage was on release in terms of its color, the 2007 Wild Earth Pinot Noir still offers up a vivid dark reddish purple color. The nose shows bright, lifted, almost floral aromatics, rose petal/violets, with an alluring spice and subtle herbal component to the darker red berry fruits on the nose. Medium-fuller to fuller in body this shows Central Otago palate weight and concentration while still maintaining the requisite silky, sleek, palate caressing texture with smooth, riper tannins that makes Pinot Noir so captivating. The fruit, a combo of red and black, is primary and juicy with spicy backdrop as well as ever so slight touch of chocolaty oak peeking up through as well that adds a touch of savoriness. This should only continue to get better with time, and evolve beautifully over the next 3-4 years. |

92 pts Wine Avocate Issue # 184 Sept 2009
The 2007 Pinot Noir has a refined nose with a more red fruit profile: redcurrant, maraschino and raspberry. Good definition although it is a little closed compared to others. The palate has very fine tannins, fleshy and very well balanced with wild strawberry, raspberry and a touch of sous-bois. Very refined and elegant on the finish. Feminine and wily. Another great wine from the award-winning Wild Earth. Drink now-2012.
