Winemaker Notes

The Argentinian winery, La Coste de Los Andes, is an enterprise of the prestigious French winery Chateau La Coste. The vineyard is located in Los Chacayes, Valle de Uco, Mendoza at the foot of the Andes Mountains. Mendoza, in the Cuyo Wine Region, is home to 75% of Argentina’s vineyards.

The winery, which produces wine under the Andillian and other labels, is managed by winemaker Lucas Gimenez Bachiocchi and advisor Michel Rolland. A key to their philosophy is respect for the terroir through sustainable viticulture and preserving the environment of this unique wine region. This includes protecting the fertility and essence of the soils. Since 2014, the vineyards have been certified organic by Argencert.

The 45-hectare vineyard is located 1,270 meters above sea level at the heart of the I.G. Los Chacayes appellation. It is an area of great isolation, cool temperatures, virgin soils, and native vegetation. Here, at the foot of the Andes Mountain Range, climate and soil diversity bring complexity, elegance, and concentration to the wines.

The vinification processes are a harmonious blend of nature and technology. Selecting and harvesting only the best grapes is done by hand. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, concrete eggs, and oak barrels
