Beautiful, crushed violet flowers and ripe cassis with dark-plum and earthy nuances, too. The palate has a very plush feel with ripe red plums in abundance. Drink or hold.

The 2018 Anko Malbec was produced with grapes from the Estancia Los Cardones estate at 1,700 meters in altitude. These grapes are selected from the lower-altitude vineyards where the soils are stony and have plenty of small stones. It matured in used oak barrels for six months, but there’s no oak in the wine, which feels aromatic, expressive and floral. It’s juicy and easy to drink, with great balance and a serious texture. Drink: 2019-2021.
The very intense sunshine at 5,700′ elevation produces concentrated dark fruit flavors. The cold Andean nights lend floral and sweet spice aromatics. The stony soil profile provides excellent structure.
