Reflective of its high elevation origins and stony soils, this wine is sourced from two vineyards in the San Jose district of Tupungato in the Uco Valley, situated at elevations between 3600-4270 feet above sea level. The wine was fermented in 100% new French oak and then aged for 10 months in all new French oak. The nose starts of with a toasty sweet vanillin top note that gives it richness, countered with a stony, mineral component to the white orchard fruit and citrus aromas. The oak is in perfect harmony with the fruit in the palate, giving just a hint of roundness. Medium bodied, there’s an undercurrent of acidity that flows through from start to finish that drives the taut pear and citrus flavors to a lengthy mineral edged finish.

Given the coolness of San José – the origin of this wine – it’s no surprise that this such an impressive Chardonnay. Pale in colour, it has the concentration of vines established in 1990, stony, citrus aromas, taut, chiselled acidity and flavours of lime and pear framed by deftly handled new oak. 2020-24.
