A blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc, respectively, the aromatics of the 2014 Balnaves ‘The Blend’ plays a nice balancing act between savory and fruity with aromatics suggesting of damp earth, herbs and a touch of cedar oak spice to the blackberry and dark currant notes. Medium to medium fuller bodied, the black fruit flavors gain flesh and suppleness with aeration, while the tannins are finer tuned, with the acidity in perfect balance. Finishing dry with good length this is drinking perfectly as we speak and should continue to drink impressively over the next couple of years.
