5 Stars 2019 Platter’s South African Wine Guide
Serial accolades for scintillating rendition of chenin ex 40 year old vines 17 (95 pts) retains accustomed classic style, layered with tropical fruit, fleshed out by creamy oatmeal from deft oaking (year in 20% new barrels), yet wonderfully restrained & elegant.
95 pts Tim Atkin MW 2018
Year in year out, this is one of the best and most complex Chenins in South Africa. Made from very small berries (but with no botrytis) in 2017, it’s a leesy, naturally fermented delight showing old vine concentration and remarkable palate length. 2019-27.
91 pts Vinous Aug 2018
The 2017 Hope Marguerite Chenin Blanc was fermented and matured in oak, 15% new. It offers attractive orange peel, dried honey and white chocolate scents that open with aeration, and the prudent use of oak is welcome. The palate is well balanced with fine weight; touches of orange pith and nectarine lace together toward the quite refined and persistent finish. This is a classy Chenin Blanc.
90 pts James Suckling June 2018
The dried fruits come through clearly with sliced pineapples and pears. Full-bodied, layered and flavorful. A delicious finish. Drink now.
