A gorgeous version of the varietal. Beautifully balanced and poised, this has a captivating aromatic profile of dark fruit, black currants and plums, touched up with classic notes of tobacco leaf and cedar spice, making it varietal to perfection with no angular edges. Medium fuller bodied with firm but finer tuned tannins that leads to a dry and impressively long finish, this has a core of sweet dark fruit flavors and a savory nuance that plays out perfectly. Textured and blessed with concentrated dark fruit, displaying beautiful fruit purity, oak integrtion and depth, the strength of the vintage allows this to show well out the gate, but the structure is there for a long and very rewarding life. This is something we would love to place in a blind tasting with much more expensive versions from around the world.

92 pts Tim Atkin MW 2019
Cederberg always seems to produce stylish Cabernets from its dramatic, cool climate site and this is no exception. Racy, aromatic and textured, with pure blackcurrant pastille fruit, polished, self-assured tannins, aromatic 50% new wood and a long, balanced finish. 2021-2027.
4 ½ Stars 2020 Platter’s South African Wine Guide
Classy & elegant 17 (92 pts) reins back the alcohol (now 14%) while keeping all the flavours & freshness. Mélange of black-berried fruit with vanilla, leather & smoke, notch up on 16. French oak, 60% new.
High altitude cabernet vineyards that have a longer ripening period give rise
to this phenomenal wine. Loads of blackcurrants with cedar wood
undertones on the nose with a hint of smokiness and tobacco leaf, creating a
complex wine. Good integration of oak with a velvety finish on the palate. A
prime example of a well-crafted South African Cabernet Sauvignon.
