90-91 pts Wine Advocate Issue #239 Oct 2018 –
The 2018 Gallardía del Itata Old Vine White was produced with a field blend of 70% Moscatel and 30% Chasselas from their own dry-farmed, ungrafted old vines planted in 1905 in Guarilihue. 2018 was a cool year with low yields and an early harvest that resulted in fresh and light wines of good typicity. This wine ferments in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and matures in used barrels until the bottling, which will be some time in October 2018. What I like about this wine is that it doesn’t have the classical Moscatel aromas; it’s very subtle and elegant, with great freshness. It’s sharp and dry, with some more varietal flavors and the tension from the granite.
