November 2020
This high-elevation Pinot Noir out of the Cederberg plays toward the feminine side of the varietal, starting off with its light, translucent cherry red color leading into its medium bodied palate. The nose has a nice combo of savory subtle earth tones, underbrush and a touch of spice and smokiness, intermixed with fruits of cherry and strawberry aromatically. The delicate red fruit base, strawberry and cranberry, has nice purity up front and then as it works across the mid palate it takes on some of the earthy, smoky notes that transfers over from the aromatics, which adds extra nuance and complexity. The tannins are finely tuned, giving this a silky texture, playing into the wine’s elegant, seductive side. This has sneaky length from the nice stream of acidity that keeps this bright and focused and needs a little aeration to really show its potential. If you drink this now, either decant or give some air time which will allow it to flesh out.
