Gillmore imported the material for this Aglianico, among other Italian varieties, around 2010 to create a series of wines showcasing the Maule Valley differently than established grapes like País or Carignan. This version displays a fruity character, generous in aromas of ripe red fruit and floral notes. The palate is taut with a subtle fruity sweetness, though the wine is defined by a juicy, profound acidity.

Aglianico is one of the star turns of southern Italy, famous for the wines it produces in Taurasi. Inky, dense and decidedly Mediterranean, this is big, bold, muscular stuff that’s picked late to soften its tannins a bit. Damson, black olive and garrigue flavours are complemented by subtle, spicy oak. 2027-33

The 2022 Aglianico del Maule is the most dark-fruited, graphite-tinged and tenacious bottling in Gillmore’s range of Italian-variety interpretations. On the palate, it is rich, supple and slow moving, concluding with a focused, grippy, stony and aromatic finish that carries a lingering earthy quality while remaining pure and transparent. 2025-2032
Del Maule is a line of Italian varietals with an appealing Chilean twist, reflective of their soil and climate. Born from centuries-old vines imported from Italy, the vineyards are now flourishing in their new home in the Maule Valley.
