90 pts Wine Enthusiast September 2020
An upfront minty, herbal character sets the stage on the nose of this wine, with supporting aromas of cassis, blackberry and mentholated black cherry. The palate is smooth and satiny, with fine yet supporting tannins and ample acidity to complement the ripe black-fruit core. The finish takes you through a ride of fruity dominance back to herbal sensations on the close.
4 Stars 2019 Platter’s South African Wine Guide
Perhaps the most easygoing of the reds. 16 (88 pts) has serious structure, but plush & loose-knit. Modest 13% alcohol helps approachability. Like all, integrated oak, good dry finish.
This classic Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted from various blocks of vines on the estate, giving it complexity and balance. Youthful, leafy and very pure, with blackcurrant fruit, tangy acidity and the fine tannins that are the hallmark of the glass collection wines. Inspired by antique glasses from May de Lencquesaing’s private collection, Glenelly’s Glass Collection celebrates the parallels between the art of making wine and the art of making glass. Both glass and fine wine come from poor soil, and just as the glassblower breathes life into glass, the winemaker’s love gives life to wine.
