90 pts Decanter March 2021
Made by Pieter ‘Bubbles’ Ferreira, president of the Cap Classique Producers’ Association, this even blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir is the UK’s biggest selling Cap Classique and a brilliantly priced introduction to the style (in this or its Rhona label guise for M&S), often on offer around £10. First made in 1991 – and served at Nelson Mandela’s inauguration in 1994 – it spends at least 18 months on lees and has 6% to 12% reserve wine in the blend. Inviting green apple freshness, creamy, nutty autolytic notes and a zesty citrus bite throughout.
This delightful sparkling wine exudes light yeasty aromas, limey fresh fruit on the nose, and rich creamy complexity on the palate. This Brut NV is intended to cleanse the palate, stimulate the taste buds and entice you to progress to the ‘next level’ in your tasting journey as you savour the nuances and complexities of the other bubblies in our portfolio. When introduced to the Brut NV your love affair with Graham Beck begins – this versatile and engaging bubbly will soon become an absolute staple in your repertoire. Always ensure you have a bottle or several stashed in the refrigerator!
