Hewitson ‘Ned and Henry’s’ Shiraz 2015

Tasting Notes

Jan 2019 – The 2015 Ned and Henry’s is lovely representation of a well-made Barossa Valley Shiraz. The nose starts off with suggestions of licorice, a hint of leather, sweet spice and red and black fruits aromatically. Medium fuller bodied, this has ample mid palate richness combining savory notes of spice and aniseed with dark plums and cherry fruit. Finer grained tannins bring this to a dry, lingering conclusion. This is just now opening up and should show well over the next 2-3 years.

Notes of fresh earth and smoke swirl around the cherry and berry flavors at the core, with a spicy accent on the finish. Drink now through 2026.

Excellent depth and hue; Dean Hewitson implants his own unique thumbprint on Barossa Valley Shiraz with this wine; always comprehensively over-delivering on price, achieving its power from the black fruit tannins, not the alcohol. However, it does need a year or two to settle down.
