In typical Kadette style this has an assortment of engaging red berry, cherry and plum fruit flavors that are accentuated with a touch of spice adding a savory note to the core of sweet fruit. Finishing dry, the tannins are firm enough to give good supporting structure without excessive grip making this something you can drink now but will hold up nicely over the course of the next several years. Even though this may be the farm’s entry level wine, as with all wines from Kanonkop this will not disappoint.

You can only applaud a winery – especially one as famous as Kanonkop – that makes 1.7 million bottles of a wine of this quality. Dominated by Pinotage, with the remaining 67% made up of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it’s a floral, textured, well-structured cuvee with notes of mint and dried herbs and a core of cassis and raspberry fruit.
Blend: 37% Pinotage, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot
The bright ruby color of this wine is complimented on the nose by attractive aromas of red currants, cherries, spice and a touch of mocha. The palate is lively and fresh, with succulent raspberry flavors. The fruit is supported by a firm, yet silky tannin structure. Savory notes persist on the lengthy finish.
Chill it down for a refreshing summer drink with seafood, or serve at room temperature when paired with pizza, pasta, stews, roast chicken and barbecued meat.
