Kara Tara Pinot Noir 2017

Tasting Notes

September 2019
The 2017 Kara Tara Pinot Noir has a translucent bright red color leading to a nose that offers a light spice and earth element overlaying red fruits reminiscent of red cherry and strawberry aromatically. Somewhat shy on opening with some aeration it transforms nicely, gaining flesh and vibrancy. Medium bodied, the fruit has good concentration with a backbone of acidity giving juiciness and brightness to the core of red fruits while the tannins show some firmness on the back end. As it opens the wine becomes more supple and sleek in texture while its youthful vibrancy says this should show well over the next 2-3 years.

90 pts Tim Atkin MW 2019
Kara Tara is a new project between Jose Conde and Rudger van Wyk, which sits apart from the work they do at Stark-Conde. Juicy, floral and bramble fruity, with fresh acidity and 10% new wood, it’s a promising Elgin Pinot. 2019-2023
