Ken Forrester The FMC Chenin Blanc 2021

4 ½ Stars 2023 Platter’s South African Wine Guide
Multifaceted trailblazer for the chenin category showcases the gamut of varietal attributes in 21 (93 pts): marmalade, bake pear, fresh citrus, quince, honed stonefruit & a crackle of keen acidity. From mostly 1974 low-yield bushvines, naturally fermented/year in oak, then barrel selected.

93 pts James Suckling Dec 2022
Aromas of white peaches, apricots, white tea and lavender. Medium- to full-bodied with supple texture. Linear with lees complexity and density. Saline undertones. Pleasantly rounded on the palate with very good length and steadiness. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

93 pts Tim Atkin MW 2022

Winemaker Notes

We have our single parcel vines, where an older, special vineyard like a small postage stamp on the map, produces exceptional fruit and extremely low yields and here we attempt to make a statement of purity, intensity, complex concentration of fruit and elegant balance. Destined to be limited by provenance and finally after barrel aging we only select the very best individual barrels to go into bottle, ensuring a unique superlative wine, justifiably the pinnacle of our efforts.
