A full, rich Bordeaux blend with loads of blackberry, currant, chocolate and walnut character. Some mint, too. Round and polished tannins. Loads of fruit at the finish. Yet, it turns slightly reserved and poised. Blend of 58% cabernet sauvignon, 39% malbec and 3% petit verdot. This will age beautifully. Give it at least three to four years to come around.

All produced from estate fruit, and very much the exception at white wine-focused Klein Constantia, this is Cabernet Sauvignon-based red with 42% Malbec and Petit Verdot. Fresh and elegant, with finer tannins and less greenness than previous releases, it has fine oak, good structure and flavours of blackcurrant pastille and cinnamon spice. 2022-2027
Our intention for the Estate Red Blend 2017 was to produce a wine that represents our unique location. Over the years we have selected varietals that best suit our terroir, planting them on the lower and warmer slopes of Klein Constantia. Located in one of the coolest wine-growing regions in South Africa, we are able to achieve ripeness in conjunction with delicate tannins, allowing us to create a more elegant and refined red wine.
Aromas of black and red fruit burst on the nose followed by a delicate wood spice. The rich & complex palate is balanced with bold tannins and an elegant backbone. A blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Malbec & 3% Petit Verdot.
