December 2018
Even though Lievland is located in Stellenbosch, you will notice that the 2017 Lievland Pinotage wine carries the Paarl appellation on the label, as grapes were sourced from several bush vine vineyards in the Paarl and not from estate fruit. This is made in a modern style, fruit forward and vibrant on the nose with notes of cherry, raspberry with shades of vanilla to the wine’s aromatics. The red fruit carries over into the palate which has engaging richness and nice mid palate suppleness with a savory note on the back end that adds some extra nuance to the red fruit flavors. Medium to medium fuller bodied, this is very elegant, with good fruit purity and freshness with finer grained tannins allowing you to enjoy now, but has enough structure to show well over the next 2-3 years.

This is ripe and fruit-forward upfront, with abundant aromas of brambly berry and cherry that are partnered with delicate scents of violet and baking spice. The texture is smooth as silk, with medium acidity and fine tannins that are soft yet lend ample structure to the palate. It’s pristine and laser focused, with great purity and a fresh red-berry flavor that endures on the finish.
