Maison L’Envoy Tasmania Pinot Noir 2017

Tasting Notes

A gorgeous perfumed nose, reminding of dried rose petal along with a touch of baking spice and earth notes to the bright cherry and red currant fruit, this aromatically has a captivating Pinot Noir nose. Medium bodied, silky textured, which will become even more prominent with more bottle age, this has good depth with engaging and fresh red fruit flavors that fill out the palate nicely while an undercurrent of acidity gives this drive and length. The tannins are perfectly integrated leading this to dry finish with good length and persistence. Although somewhat tightly bound at the moment, this shows great promise and should drink beautifully over the next 3-4 years quite easily.

Awards/Reviews

90 pts Wine Advocate Issue #237 June 2018
Floral and herbal on the nose, the 2017 Pinot Noir adds hints of cherries and red currants on the palate. A joint venture between Mark Tarlov and American importer Old Bridge Cellars and made at Giant Steps winery in the Yarra Valley, it’s a silky, medium-bodied wine with a lingering finish of pencil shavings, dark cherries and earth.
91 pts Wine Spectator 10/15/18
Cranberry and wild strawberry flavors show accents of spice, toasted herb, gunpowder tea and tomato leaf. Fresh and vibrant, on a crisp body. Drink now through 2028. 450 cases imported.
