The Matetic EQ Sauvignon Blanc has consistently been one of the best Chilean Sauvignon Blanc on the market. Starting with the 2021 vintage the Coastal term was added to the label to highlight its cool climate origins which sits around 6 miles from the Pacific Ocean in the Hermoso Valley in Chile’s famous Casablanca DO. This Sauvignon Blanc has a definitive cooler climate slant, but has more depth and richer palate than most of its Coastal Sauvignon Blanc siblings. With the warmer summer season now on us this is a perfect fit and has all kinds of applications, be it on its own or with food, this is an over delivering white that is perfect for the summer season.

Coastal comes from Valle Hermoso, Matetic’s vineyard in the Casablanca D.O. and just 10 kilometers from the Pacific. With a majority of clone 242, which offers tropical notes and lusher palates, this is a clear example of a marine sauvignon, very much in the style of the fresh, herbal whites with pronounced acidity that are produced along the Chilean coasts. What puts this Coastal ahead of many of those examples is its depth of flavors.
The wine is kept for four to five months in contact with the fine lees, then it is bottled and released for sale after one to two months of aging in the bottle.
It is a very pale yellow wine with very subtle green nuances. On the nose, a complex and delicate mixture of ripe citrus and tropical fruits stands out, mixed with saline notes, with a slight spiciness typical of this variety in coastal climates. In the mouth it is fresh and nervous, concentrated and sparkling, fruity, the minerality persists in the saline finish.
