Beginning with a floral lift, the 2019 Granite Syrah is gorgeous and sashays with aromas of red and black spice with juicy red fruit skin and dusty red flowers. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is refined with elements of violets, lilies and spiced red tea before displaying a mouthwatering mineral tension. The Granite Syrah continues to offer its secrets as it reveals layers of complexity upon the refined, fresh and thoughtful finish. Bravo, I’m going back for another sip! 2022-2038

A compact, creamy red, with broad shoulders and sculpted tannins tightly meshed with flavors of bitter cherry and currant, crushed peppercorn, dried lavender, graphite and stony mineral. Not a powerhouse wine, this instead carries its stature gracefully as the flavor range expands and lingers on the palate. Best from 2024 through 2034. 224 cases made, 15 cases imported.
The GRANITE Syrah is from a single parcel of sustainably farmed dry land bush vines, planted in the late 80’s in the deep decomposed Granitic soils of the Paardeberg. This is the parcel of Syrah that gives the best expression of the Paardeberg’s terroir – freshness and perfume.
This floral perfumed Syrah is the most elegant of our single-terroir Syrahs. The palate is medium to full bodied and delicately spicy, with a silky texture balanced by a fresh, natural acidity. There are notes of black pepper, violets and lilies, red berries and herbs. With the very gentle oak integration, the elegance and length of tannin in this wine it beckons ageing of 15 to 25 years. Decanting is recommended when opened young.
