Neil Ellis ‘Vineyard Selection’ Grenache 2011

Tasting Notes

Apr 2018 – The 2011 Vineyard Selection Grenache displays delicate red fruit notes on the nose reminding of strawberry and cherry with a subtle suggestion of white pepper and earth. The palate is medium to medium fuller bodied with an expressive core of red fruit, plum and cherry, that still shows good vibrancy, even with some extended bottle age. Silky textured with a nice interplay between savory and fruitiness, finer grained, powdery tannins firm up the back end leading to a dry finish. Drinking beautiful as we speak this should show well over the next couple of years.

The mulled cherry and plum fruit is woven with black tea, shiso leaf and white pepper notes, all gliding through a silky finish. Lively, blood orange—edged acidity keeps this fresh despite the extra bottle age.
