Grapes ex Stanford, 20% wholebunch, 11 months in old oak. 18 (90 pts) has tangy red fruit galore, cherries & cranberries layered with earthy & herbal nuances, spicy finish enhanced by fresh acidity.
The grapes for this Pinot Noir were sourced from vineyards in the hills of Walker Bay. Cooler conditions encouraged slow, even ripening.
The wine was matured in older oak barrels for 10 months before bottling.
Total production 1,400 bottles.
This wine is reminiscent of an elegant old world-style Pinot Noir, with bright red fruit balanced by fragrant herbal notes and earthy perfume.
This wine drinks well in youth but will improve over time, gaining additional complexity for at least five years from vintage.
