May 2018 – The 2015 Pfeiffer Three Chimneys Cabernet Merlot, comprising 94% Cabernet, starts off with notes of mint, a touch of earth and dark plum, mulberry and blackberry fruit on the nose. The palate is medium fuller bodied, round and supple, with concentrated savory dark fruit flavors and finely tuned tannins that are now starting to integrate into the fruit. The finish is smooth, with just the right amount of grip to balance things out and give supporting structure. A touch of earthiness pushes up through the dark fruit flavors on the finish, which has good length and persistence. This is just now starting to open up and should drink impressively over the next couple of years.
