53% Cabernet Franc, 36% Malbec, 5% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot. Matured for 16 months in French oak, none new. Red and black berries, some attractive herbal character and pencil shavings on the nose. The palate is medium bodied with a lovely energy about it – good fruit definition, fresh acidity and fine tannins.
4 ½ Stars 2020 Platter’s South African Wine Guide
Boldly expressive 17 (92 pts) follows illustrious line, with sublime cab franc leading 5-way Bordeaux blend. Haunting mineral notes, nervously poised leaf & earth undertones combine with impressive balance & silky texture.

The 2017 Red Jasper is roughly 60% Cabernet Franc, 30% Malbec, with the remaining 10% a mix of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon. A bolder expression of Cabernet Franc can be experienced on the nose with dusty florals and a deep expressive core of fruit. For anyone who is not a fan of Cabernet Franc, this wine is the gateway as it expresses a bolder style. The palate is balanced and structured, in its youth, still showing a tight focus. The finish is spicy, softly tannic with a firm grip of dusty earth, possessing a depth of flavor, representing a good quality wine at a fair price.
Exceptionally intense and complex on the nose with blackberry, black cherry and bramble in abundance and subtle hints of forest floor, dark chocolate, aniseed and spicy tobacco. The walk in the Black Forest continues with blue and blackberry dancing on a tight rope with focus and concentration, following through onto a perfectly balanced, fine-grained, velvety palate. The finish lingers with hints of fresh mint, cinnamon and perfume. Complex and structured.
