5 Stars 2021 Platter’s South African Wine Guide
Sleek, naturally fermented 19 (95 pts) shows a different side to this exceptional range of chenins. 44 year old Bottelary bushvine block only one to receive morning sun (slower ripening & UV levels equating freshness). Yellow plum & apple converge into an energetic finish. Only older oak, to show off its steel & verve.
93 pts Tim Atkin MW 2020
The second of a trio of wine from the same 45-year old vineyard in the Bottelary Hills, where “some winemaker’s influence interferes with the naked grape,” according to Tertius Boshoff, this sees 205 new wood, with the rest in stainless steel. Pear, citrus and tarte tatin flavours are skillfully married in the palate. 2021-26
