5 Stars 2022 Platter’s South African Wine Guide
Chenin, dabs chardonnay, sauvignon, wholebunch, 30% oaked in large barrels, allowing 19’s (95 pts) fruit as prime focus. Citrus & stonefruit, fragrantly forthcoming, savoury oak revealing itself on the palate, with tannins promising an illustrious future.
93 pts Tim Atkin MW 2021
It doesn’t say so on the label, but Pieter Carstens’ Reserve White is made entirely from Chenin Blanc. Combining tank and oak-fermented portions, it’s a focused, pithy, lanolin, pear and lemon zest style with some wild herb top notes, subtle oak and remarkable acidity. 2022-26
The 2019 vintage was a dry and healthy growing season that followed a winter with good to normal rainfall which allowed the grapes to ripen
optimally.
This is a vintage blend of the best whites Leeuwenkuil produces from the Swartland region. 2019 has a delicate nose of white blossoms, apple
and just a hint of pepper. The palate offers ripe peach and tangy pineapple flavour with an intriguing underlying chalky minerality which lingers on the finish.
