Year in, year out, this is one of the best white blends in the Cape, made in a Pessac-Léognan style but with nuances that are all its own. Mealy, salty and subtly wooded, it combines Sauvignon Blanc with 30% Semillon to brilliant effect. Long and complex. 2019-25.
4 ½ Stars 2019 Platter’s South African Wine Guide
16 (94 pts) has the same sauvignon & semillon blend as 15 (*****) (97 pts). There’s restraint, finesse, breeding (only best blocks used); minerality, fennel & greengage, the oaking subtle but adds savoury tones, some tension. Complete, everything fits perfectly.

A blend of 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Sémillon, the 2016 Director’s Reserve White begins with classic herbal and green pepper notes from the Sauvignon Blanc with underripe apricot and pineapple. The palate is mineral driven with a waxy, leesy texture, the Sémillon making its debut. It is well structured and complex with a long finish. It aged nine months on the lees in one-third new French oak.
