5 Stars 2020 Platter’s South African Wine Guide
Tightly focused, vibrates with nervous tension, nettles & lime, green papaya, the palate is dry with mouthwatering tangy acidity. 18 (95 pts) already drinking well but a long life ahead as it unfolds over time. Cool-climate style from Elgin.
93 pts Tim Atkin MW 2019
Sappy, stony and showing subtle oyster shell and struck match reduction, Tokara’s lightly wooded SB has something of the complexity of its Director’s Reserve White. Complex, leesy and long on the palate. 2019 – 24
The wine has a stunning vibrant straw colour with tinges of green. The aromas are abundant with pungent notes of fresh guava’s, asparagus, lemon grass and fresh cut grass. There is an amazing freshness as the wine enters the palate, with fresh citrus, grapefruit flavors leading to a creamy mid-palate and a lingering crisp finish.
