Given the provenance, is freakish value, its quality simply underlining that fact. It has purple and black fruits sewn together by firm tannins that add to the length of the wine (and its structure). I wouldn’t hesitate to cellar the wine for 15+ years.

This wine punches above its weight – available for under £15, the luscious black cherry and hedgerow fruits do a good job of making it seem twice the price. Sultry black pepper, sweet spice, baked strawberry, currants and liquorice all mingle in the swirling, inky sea. This is deep, but is supple rather than dense. Drinking Window 2017 – 2022
