Voyager Estate Girt By Sea 2012

Tasting Notes

March 2019 – The Girt By Sea label within the Voyager portfolio is their second label that has a reputation of over delivering in both quality and price. James Halliday reviewed this wine a few years back and gave it an impressive 94 pt score which brings this point to light. The 2012 Girt By Sea is blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (74%) and Merlot (25%), with a smidgen of Shiraz (1%). Now matured to perfection this offers up some leafy notes, a hit of bay leaf and mint with dark red currant and plum fruit that still has nice vibrancy and lift aromatically. Medium to medium fuller bodied this has a core of currant and plum fruit flavors with suave, ultra fine tannins. Now drinking in a perfect spot with several more years to go this shows the quality that Voyager is known for.

94 pts James Halliday 2015 Australian Wine Companion
Medium crimson-purple; a totally delicious second label, full of supple, sweet cassis and plum fruit, the tannins superfine, the oak precisely where it should be. Screwcap.
